Troubleshooting and FAQ

Last updated 27 July 2026

This page collects fixes for the problems Ganttastic users actually hit: dates that shifted after an edit, an AI allowance that ran out, collaborators who can't see a project, and offline behavior. Below the troubleshooting entries you'll find short answers to common questions and the ways to reach support.

A feature is missing or locked

Most "missing" features are plan gated. Locked menu items appear muted with a small rocket icon, and clicking one opens the upgrade dialog with the plans that include the feature.

To check which plan you are on, open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar. Your plan name (Team Member, Project Coordinator, or Project Manager) is shown under your name, and Upgrade Account in the same menu opens the upgrade options. A free trial that has ended, or a payment problem, also changes what is available; a banner above the chart will say so. See plans and pricing for what each tier includes and billing and subscriptions for payment issues.

Dates shifted after an edit

In a plan with dependencies this is usually correct behavior, not a bug. When you move a task that others depend on, the dependent tasks reschedule to match. When a cascade runs, a toast reports how many tasks were rescheduled and includes an Undo button, and Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac) also reverses the change.

The other common cause is a change to the Work Calendar in Project Settings, which recalculates tasks against the new working days and holidays. If dates keep surprising you, review the dependency lines between the affected tasks; see dependencies, milestones, and auto-scheduling.

You hit your AI limit

All AI features draw from one allowance of tokens per user per month. Plans, chat, refinement, and scenarios share the same pool, so heavy use of one leaves less for the others.

PlanAI tokens per user per month
Team Member (free)10,000
Project Coordinator100,000
Project Manager200,000
Enterprise and Enterprise+300,000

The meter at the bottom of the sidebar shows your monthly AI capacity used and when it resets. Allowances reset on your billing anniversary date, or on your account creation day for free accounts, not on the first of the calendar month. To raise the allowance, choose Upgrade Account in the account menu. For what the AI can do with those tokens, see AI assistant.

A collaborator can't see your project

  1. Check the email address on the invitation for typos. The invite is tied to that exact address.
  2. Ask them to check their spam folder for the invitation email.
  3. Open the Share dialog and confirm they appear under People with access.
  4. If the invite went astray, remove their entry and invite them again.

Roles, invites, and links are covered in share and collaborate.

View only links fail for three reasons: the owner revoked the link, the link passed its expiry date, or the link is password protected and the viewer does not have the password. Ask the project owner to check the link's status in the Share dialog.

Working offline

While signed in, Ganttastic is view only when your connection drops. Data that is already loaded stays visible, but edits are blocked: trying to add a task or send an AI message shows a "You're offline" toast, and nothing you typed is lost. When the connection returns, a "Back online" toast confirms it and editing resumes. Loading the app and signing in both require a connection.

The app won't load or looks broken

  1. Hard refresh the page: Ctrl+Shift+R, or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac.
  2. Right after an update ships, the app may reload itself once to pick up the new version. Let it finish.
  3. Check your connection, then try another browser.
  4. Still stuck? Email support@ganttastic.com with your browser and operating system.

The chart looks wrong after an import

Imported projects keep the work schedule they were created with, so the working days and holidays may not match yours. Open Project Settings, go to the Work Calendar tab, and correct the schedule; dates recalculate against the new calendar.

For spreadsheet imports (Excel or CSV), wrong columns usually mean the mapping step needs another pass. Re-run the import and check each mapped field; see import a project.

Get help

Email support@ganttastic.com. Include what you tried, what happened instead, your browser and operating system, the email on your account, and the project name if it is relevant. Screenshots help.

Inside the app, the Feedback button in the sidebar footer opens the Send feedback dialog, where you can report a bug or request a feature with a title and details; submissions go straight to the team. The Tour button in the same footer replays the quick tour of the interface.
